GLOBALG.A.P.

GLOBALG.A.P. logo

GLOBALG.A.P. was born in 1997 under the name EUREPGAP, an initiative of the retail sector brought together within EUREP (Euro-Retailer Produce Working Group).

The British retail sector and continental European supermarkets began to recognize growing concerns about food safety, environmental impact, and worker/animal health, safety and welfare.

The solution was to harmonize their own standards and procedures and develop an independent certification system for good agricultural practices (GAP).

Sygma Certification Maroc is directly accredited to carry out GLOBALG.A.P. audits.

Why get GLOBALG.A.P. certified

  • Export passport: a standard recognized by European retail, often a condition for access to export markets for Moroccan fruits and vegetables.
  • Complete coverage: from seed and nursery through to the unprocessed final product.
  • Comprehensive responsibility: food safety, environment, occupational health and safety, and animal welfare combined in a single standard.

Structure

The current applicable version is IFA version 6 (Integrated Farm Assurance), which has progressively replaced version 5.2 since 1 January 2024 for fruit & vegetables and aquaculture, with GFSI recognition obtained in August 2024. Combinable crops and propagation material will also transition to v6 by 1 May 2026.

GLOBALG.A.P. is composed of:

  • general regulations applicable to all standards
  • a module applicable to all types of operations
  • modules specific to each scope (Crops, Aquaculture…)
  • standards specific to each product category

Conformance criteria defined by GLOBALG.A.P. cover in particular:

  • Food safety (criteria derived from HACCP principles)
  • good agricultural practices
  • environmental protection
  • occupational health, safety and welfare
  • animal welfare (where applicable)
  • quality management and continuous improvement
